Topic:Ethiopian Israeli protesters and police clash after a discrimination protest.

Summary

•  Ethiopian Israelis are protesting against their discrimination by the Jews.

• Many Ethiopians arrived from Ethiopia to Israel in 1980's and were considered Jews by the Jewish people. 
• The Jews helped them move to their country and showed them how to read and write.
• Now they estimated roughly 135,000 Ethiopian Israelis
• Statistics show that 88% of the Ethiopian Israeli are married to fellow Ethiopian Israeli showing the low level of intermarriage.
• They are mostly worried about the police they say that they are treated heavily by the police.
• Reports have shown that there are many imprisoned young Ethiopian Israeli.
• The police in Israel have been compared to the ones in America and their treatment towards African Americans.They say they are treated poorly because of their skin color.
• The Ethiopians are also worried about the education system as well as the economic system.
•   After the protest incident prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he will talk to the Ethiopian Leader.

  Analysis

 This case is similar to the Ferguson and many others in America and the only way to address this is to stop the racism in Israel.This doesn't only affect one part of the world it affects the whole world.First it started in America now in the Middle East.There is no way of predicting where this will go unless we stop it.

The Seneca falls Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions speech,given in New York 1848 and the "what to the negro is the forth of July" speech by Fredrick Douglass,given on July 5, 1842 dealt with rights of the people considered as the minority in America (women and slaves).The both speeches helped to promote America to be the nation it is today.Being a woman in America was almost the same as being a slave.They were no permitted to own property, go to school or speak/stand up for what they believes in.This was what the slaves had to endure plus the hard work they had to do for their masters.

The Indian removal act  was an act that was signed into law by president Andrew Jackson on May 28 1830 authorizing the removal of the Indians from the east to the western territory. This law lead to the The trail of tears. It was the journey of the Cherokee nation towards the west after being removed from their land in the east. In May 1832 the fox Indians under the leadership of the Black Hawks left their Iowa territory to return to their home in northern Illinois.Black Hawk began to plan a war against the Americans for their land.In may the Black Hawks war was won by the Indians.In 1835 to 1842 there was a conflict between various native American groups which led to a war called the second Seminole war also known as the Florida war.It was the longest and most costly conflict between Indians.

 My best post for 3rd quarter was the Tecumseh's speech.The reason was because I had a fun time doing it. Working on the speech was really good because i got to brainstorm and write in the view of an Indian warrior.



  I would like to re-do the slave narrative blog because there was so much information in the source which made it easier and more interesting to do.
There was many choices to choose from and i got to learn about a slave who is 105 years old and is still alive.



Overall my blog looks good but the older posts look so disorganized. During the course of time i have learnt that my blogs are supposed to come from my understanding no from copy and pasting.



       In my point of view i think doing the blogs has helped me understand better in what we are learning.I get to do more research about the blogs and in the middle of it sometimes i find more information and even other information that i have never heard of before.I would prefer to do the blogs on Monday than stay in class because for once I to take my time in learning and understanding what i'm going to be blogging or writing about.

        In the movie as  I concluded being a female slave was hard than a male.In this case in the movie a girl named Platsey has to deal with working hard, rape from her master and hate from her masters wife.She has a very hard time surviving because she gets beat up and abused by her masters wife bacause she thinks  that her husband likes Platsey better than her.In the movie when Epps wife bakes brownies for the slaves she doesn't  let Platsey have any. This is a way to show her how much she hates her .Platsey gets punished for something she doesn't do.She works harder than all the other slaves but she is still punished.

       Platt had  a master by the name Ford.Ford liked Platt and trusted him. He has a very hard time when his owner sells his farm to another owner.He sells it to Epps. Epps hates Platt out of all his slaves and make him work hard.With Epps as his owner Platt doesn't have a right to speak or tell his opinion as he did with master Ford.The little freedom that he had with Ford is taken away.In the movie when platt is building the house master Epps comes and starts talking to him and in the middle of it he knocks out the wood that platt was nailing to the house. Platt tries to defend himself sometimes but he is still beaten. When the slaves as sent to another owner from a while Platt receives favor from his temporary owner.When he gets back he goes back to his same old condition of working hard without rest.

the role that violence played in the slave society


      violence was something was embraced during the time of slavery. Many masters used violence as a way to get his slaves to listen to him.This was the best thing they got because if the slaves feared them than they would obey them.Some masters used the bible to create the violence like in the movie master Epps reads a verse from the bible but changes it in favor of him. He says that every man shall obey his master and if not he or she shall get 100 lashes.Most African Americans used God as an escape of their suffering.The violence came in many was like making them work harder, hanging,and beating them up.No woman or men wanted to be beaten so they has to do as told despite the fact that they hated it.In the movie when Platt is sent by Epps wife to go somewhere he finds to slaves being hanged which tell us they did something wrong.In the movie was also another slave called Platsey she went to get soap from her friend an when she came back she was whipped because her master thought that she ran away even when she tries to explain herself he still orders someone to beat her up.

                Tony Morgan

He was a slave in Alabama.He was born in Danville Kentucky about 1779. Tony was interviewed by Jim Thomas in October 1 1884.He was 105 years old.In his interview he recalls working as a wagoner in the American vs British war.Tony talks about how the British surrendered in November 6.George Washington visited Frankfort.He talks about how he was among many slaves.He says that the night that the American troops were attacked by Indians, the defenders had been sleeping.He also says the Indians retreated with scalps and a few negro prisoners.Morgan recalls carrying mail from Alabama through the state and Mississippi.

        I think Tony is very lucky for he is 105 and is still alive although his life was not worth living for he was a slave.

During the winter of 1811, an Indian warrior named Tecumseh gave a speech.It was dedicated to his fellow Indians in motivation for the fight of freedom against white men.Tecumseh's speech was written with anger,vengeance and the thirst of spilling white blood.His anger towards the whites is because of the insults and abuse they've gotten from them.His anger is shown in the quote "we will stain the earth red with blood."Vengeance boils like hot lava in Tecumseh's heart.He is determined to do whatever it takes to avenge their fathers.He quotes "they will make it fat with blood;they will drink the blood of the white men.In this quote Tecumseh means that the whites shall make their fathers grave fat with blood.The anger he has is what is pushing him to the point of revenge.

The song "so what" by Pink relates to Tecumseh's speech.She says "I guess I just lost my husband, i don't know where he went".This relates to how Tecumseh and his tribe have lost their lands and freedom.Pink also says that "I got a brand new attitude and i'm gonna wear it............I wanna start a fight.The lyrics to this song shows the similar experience of how Tecumseh's attitude towards the whites had changed and how he is ready to start a fight.

• By 1860 there are 4 million African American slaves in America.

• The first Baptists in America came in 1639.

• Originated as a revival in the 18th century.

Dear Family,
               
               It brings tears to my eyes knowing we are never going to see each other again but I think it was a good decision for me to leave home. I just arrived in California.The reason I moved to the West is because I have a better chance for a good life.The gold in California can make me rich.
              My journey was very rocky.The journey was so long that some families ran out of food.24,000 have died on this journey. I heard that George's family ate each other. They took a wrong turn thinking it was a shorter way to get to where they wanted but they were in for a treat. Five feet of snow fell on them the night their wagon broke down. They could not continue the journey with this snow so they camped and very soon they were out of food. The only way to survive was so eat each other. The wagons carried everything we all needed to start this new life.This is unbelievable but 1 in 5 women were pregnant.
                 The spirit of America has been shown in some people I heard that Smith was attacked by a glizly bear but he survived and continued with the expedition. Native American were not friendly. They kidnapped Boone's son James and tortured him to death. The beaver was traded for weapons like guns. I heard that Mexicans invited Americans to Texas but they soon out numbered the Mexicans. when I got here I was told that the population of California has gone from 15,000 to 100,000 in two years. There are more people still coming.

• The election day happens on the Tuesday, next to the  first Monday of October.

• The election day is considered as a holiday for some states like, Delaware, Hawaii, Kentucky,Montana,New Jersey,New York, Ohio, West Virginia and Massachusetts.

 The war of 1812 and SSB.

• the war of 1812 was fought because  of American anger toward great Britain for impressing the sailors and British support of Indian attacks

• neither the Americans nor the British people won the battle of 1812 but the impressement of the American sailors from the British people stopped.

Thomas Jefferson:King George, i speak for the Americans as a colony  and we wish and desire to declare our independence back.
King George: who do you think you are asking me to do that, America belongs to me now and there is nothing you can do to make me thing twice about taking America as a colony.
Thomas Jefferson:but we do have the right to reclaim America it is our nation we found it and we get to keep it.
King George:i need America to promote my trading business,for money and i also need land.i will fight to get that land one way or another.
